Introducing Jinx, a contemporary new range of organically shaped soft seating that revolutionizes a low seat, capturing the epitome of comfort that is suitable for a wealth of environments. Designed by Allermuir, Jinx challenges the structural formation we have become so accustomed to, the geometric form and defining angular lines create architectural freedom within a space.
The range includes a single seat, two seat and three seat low level sofa that all share the same visual architecture. Designed to break the mold, each piece is similarly striking as a standalone piece as it is a collective. Adding an elegant touch of structure to the bean bag culture that so many businesses have now embraced, Jinx provides a low seating option made easy for everybody.
In designing Jinx Allermuir set out to merge the lines between domestic and commercial furniture, to create a seating solution suitable for corporate spaces that offers complete immersion, an escape from the world around us – a feeling of familiarity that resembles home.
Throughout the design process, Allermuir explored concepts that would challenge the traditional perceptions of soft seating. A common belief is that sofas should be square, that they should have legs and the additional element of comfort should come from cushions. By moving away from a linear footprint, Jinx has the ability to create new formations that foster collaboration and enhance lines of communication.
Spaces are constantly evolving, Allermuir believe that modern design should embrace this and create products that stand the test of time. The angular form of Jinx means set-ups are not defined by lines, the flowing geometry of the design allow for the placement of products on diagonals, enabling more open or event more enclosed arrangements than would be possible using rectilinear soft seating.
The sculptured composition of Jinx provides a perfect injection of informality. The inner curvature of the side pieces can be used to bring people closer together. Jinx is a natural relaxation of soft seating usually found in breakout areas and collaborative spaces that responds to the shifts in demand, as trends in the workplace shift towards the inclusion of less formal products that harbor a sense of security.
Jinx explores an innovative methodology of finding new ways to structurally maintain the juxtaposition of a strong geometric exterior with an ultra-soft interior. The construction of Jinx draws on inspiration from the aeronautic design industry. Building on the use of intersecting ‘Spars’ and ‘Ribs’ that generate the iconic angular wing sweeps, to create the defining geometric structure of Jinx that hosts undeniable strength.
Don’t be deceived by the visually strong design typology, Jinx does not compromise on comfort. In fact quite the opposite, the pockets created by the construction of the angular exterior allow for the enhanced batting of super soft foam. Enabling a softer and deeper sit, that creates an almost cocoon like shape for the ultimate sit back and relax experience.
Jinx offers flexibility when working with compact areas, the single seat variant can be specified with a swivel base for ease of movement in and out of the space. For a truly personal solution there is also the option of a built in solid ash surface on the arm, for the convenience of placing your devices or even keeping your cup of coffee nearby.
An incredibly versatile range that can be tailored to any individual style or project, Jinx lends itself well to two-tone upholstery that can accentuate its angles beautifully. A fun way to instil a point of visual interest to any area without obstruction to the landscape.
